For 40 years, Whitfield's Premix, Inc., a family owned and operated company has been dedicated to providing quality nutrition you can depend on to the livestock industry. Today, however, we are not limited to just premix. We manufacture supplements, minerals, complete feeds and specialty products, including Golden Flo® Liquid Energy - the leading liquid supplement on the market today.
The word "Quality" is often used to describe feed products. "Quality Starters," "Quality Finishers." But quality can be a rather vague term unless it's supported by concrete proof.
At Whitfield's, "quality" is serious business. We view it as an inherent feature, built-in by strict controls and team effort from each department. Here's how we make sure that you receive the most for your money:
Nutrition - First & Foremost
Along with genetics and management, sound nutrition is an important link in the chain of profitable livestock production. To develop effective products, we first determine your nutritional needs. Then we combine knowledge, experience and up-to-date research with the latest in computer technology to formulate products that satisfy those needs. Each product has specific features and benefits to help you succeed.
Select Ingredients
Don't be fooled... there is a difference! A finished product is only as good as the components used to make it. Ingredients can vary greatly in quality and value. When we buy individual feed ingredients, they must consistently meet our specifications. They must be competitively priced and readily available from reputable suppliers. For example, we've taken advantage of patented technology from Albion® Laboratories. They have developed special processes, which modify minerals into a more bio-available form: Metal Amino Acid Chelate - MAAC®. Independent field tests show that performance of Albion MAAC® far surpasses the closest competition and is proven to be the most cost effective form of trace mineral supplementation.
Each ingredient received into our plant is inspected before it is entered into our inventory, and stored in a first-in, first-out basis. All of our products are fresh and made only when you order it. Average turn-over of most of our ingredients is less than 30 days, thus peak freshness and potency are maintained.
Adequate vs. Optimal
We believe that optimal nutrition is vital to optimal performance. Take vitamins and minerals, for instance. They are key ingredients not only for growth, health, reproduction and maintenance, but also for proper metabolic function and utilization of other nutrients. Vitamins and minerals are comparatively expensive ingredients, though, some feed company's include only "adequate" levels of them to keep costs down. Not at Whitfield's! We feel "optimal" vitamin and mineral fortification is cost-effective: the nutritional benefits will pay off in the long run through healthier animals and more efficient production.
We strive to balance top quality with cost-effectiveness in all of our products. If there's a more economical way to meet our specifications, we take it without compromising quality. But we are firm believers in the "you get what you pay for" philosophy.
Precision Production
When a product is manufactured, our conscientious employees follow established batching, mixing and bagging procedures. Ingredients are carefully weighed on accurate scales and thoroughly mixed in properly maintained equipment. Periodic assays and quality checks confirm that each product meets our standards.
Finished products, like individual ingredients, are stored in first-in, first-out order. Again, we make your feed after we receive your order. Storage time in our warehouse is short and you receive fresh feed.

Besides our main line products, we also custom formulate products to fit your individual operation and nutritional needs.
